The barn played a vital role to the rural homesteads across Europe during times of war and peace. It provided shelter and protection for the various animals that a family depended on for survival. The building was meant to hold all the animals the family owned to protect them from thieves, predators, and the harsh winters. Unfortunately, they did not help much if a band of hungry soldiers came through.
In this layout, there is a chicken roost and nesting area, a pig pen, and an area for the family cow. The design is based on small barns found in Poland, which can easily represent the style found across the Eastern Front region of World War I and II, as well as earlier periods dating back to the Middle Ages.
The model kit is built sturdy from 1/8" layered MDF and has a removable roof to allow easy access for troop movement. High level details have been laser etched into the building to provide a realistic look to the model. Doors may be custom positioned as desired.
This building is a great addition to one of the Eastern Front Cottages. Add a group of Out Buildings and a Wooden Fence Kit to complete a full rural homestead of the period. They will look fantastic in your game setting.
